I always loved stand-up, but never thought I could do it. Then, I saw Jake Johannsen on one of his million Letterman appearances and thought he was so funny in a way that really meant something to me that I couldn't get doing stand-up out of my head. After I won an award from the Florida College Press Association for Best Humor Writer, I decided to give it a try and it only took two years to get up the courage. That was over ten years ago.
While I was in the Philippines Jake appeared on Letterman TWICE. He's as funny as ever. Here's his latest Letterman appearance last month that I got off of YouTube. I shook his hand once. My sister met Jake at the Comedy Corner (now I think it's an Improv) in West Palm Beach, and told Jake Johannsen that he's the reason her sister started performing stand-up comedy. He said, "I'm sorry." He writes an incredible amount of material, and is as funny as ever. I can't wait until I go up in Santa Barbara so I can video tape my new stuff and post it here. I don't have a camera for the show tonight. But in the meantime, enjoy my comedy hero JAKE!
