Funny Songs Video: Single Girl's Love Song

Here's the video for Single Girl's Love Song animated and directed by Brett Gilbert. We released it on Valentine's Day, and it's already gotten over 4,500 reviews.

 

The last verse is inspired by one of my favorite show biz couples (and hilarious comedians) Jane Edith Wilson and Gary Lucy. They were kind enough to let use their actual Christmas card video (which I really got in the mail and it really did make me happy) in the video. If a person tweets in the dark, does a one-handed tree clapping make no sound when it falls on her?

I've signed up for Twitter, and I have no idea what I'm doing or why, but that is one of the best reasons and ways to do anything in my opinion. (The other "best" reason and way would be to do something for a specific reason and to know exactly how. However, it is kind of boring).

I find it very entertaining that no one at all is following me, and yet I tweet away. However, in everyone in the world's defense, I signed up in the dead of night after a major holiday while I was alone in my apartment. I am of the firm belief this is how all great things begin. Great things begin alone, in the dead of night, when no one is looking, and you (or in this case me) do something.

Yes, there are things people do alone, when no one is looking, in the dead of night, that may not fall into the "great" category, but hopefully this is not that kind of thing.

Yes, my sister's name is Edie Murphy--one "D" from being famous, which goes to show you how I was born to be celebrity adjacent. My sister wrote, recorded, played the awesome guitar riff and commissioned the "bongo breakdown." If you know anyone named Edie, remember anyone named Edie or enjoy breathing air, you'll dig this funny song. AND since it is her birthday, why don't you go ahead and leave a comment on YouTube telling her how awesome it is.

My foray into funny songs/comedy songs is official. I finally finished my CD, Feeling Good Looking Good.

I made a quick YouTube video of the first single, "Creepy Guy" so you can check it out. Plus you can download Creepy Guy for free and sample all the tracks for free, too at DiGSTATION.

I recorded it in the Philippines, and it was an amazing/fun/challenging adventure. It was a four-hour boat ride to get to the island with the studio. We had brown outs during recording. And there was a bit of culture clash well not so much a clash...

Why You Need to Visit the Philippines

In the cab on the way to the studio one day, our cab driver kept laughing and staring at me in his rearview mirror. I was starting to feel really weird, and Mom started talking to him. It turns out he was laughing (or what I thought was laughing), because of my American accent and pale skin made me look like a "movie star." Wow! Being half-white on an island very far from home really stretches the definition of movie-star good looks. Every American woman needs to ride in this man's cab. Or have a mother that makes elaborate yet convincing tall tales to explain why a cab driver is making fun of her easily-rattled kid. Either way it's a win.

Comedy Song - Bad Hair Day

Can a comedy song be written in a minor key? I guess so. This one is really short. I'm still moving into my new apartment, and by moving into my new apartment I mean unpacking a box, walking around, going to meet a friend at Starbucks, unpacking another box, leaving to go to the grocery store, look at the boxes, eat a bowl of cereal, and then write this song. I'm borrowing somebody's Wi-Fi. Thank you to whoever has Netgear in Studio City not too far from the Ralph's on Ventura. You're the best!

Comedy Song - Creepy Guy Song

You can hear the distinct echo of an empty apartment in this video. That's right Otter Headquarters has moved from the couch of my sister's apartment (Thanks BUD!) to the luxurious Studio City. Ooh. Ahh. My stuff is delivered tomorrow and my phone was allegedly hooked up today, but since my phone is packed with my stuff I won't be able to check it tomorrow. I also got a new hairdo to go with the new place.
